The Disney Monorail system at Disneyland California was opened in 1959. The system at Walt Disney World Florida opened in 1971 and was extended to Epcot in 1982.This Monorail system is the busiest in the world carrying 5 million passengers a year. The system links The Magic Kingdom, Epcot and three of the Disney Resort Hotels. The current Mk VI trains were introduced in 1989. The trains consist of six air-conditioned coaches having a total length of 203 ft and a maximum speed of 45mph. The beamway on which the trains run is 26" wide and is supported at intervals of 110ft by columns up to 65ft high. | |
